[ARCHIVED] Water System Activities on 08/29/2023

The Water Department has been notified of discolored water in the Highland Avenue and Walnut Hill areas of town late this morning. We are actively searching for a cause, and suspect a potential water pipe rupture, so we are currently doing leak detection through that area. Thank you for the calls alerting us to investigate this area..

The water main installation on North Main Street has been successfully installed and has passed all required testing to to able to be put fully into service this afternoon. Just the opening of the valves to do this is expected to cause some minor discoloration that should clear quickly. Also, just to note, as this section was being bypassed to be able to be installed, there has not been much flow through the pipeline, more just into the pipeline to serve those that are connected to the newer section. Even though the lower section has been on line for a while now, it will again be the main flow direction for the water coming out of and going into the North Storage tank. The system should adapt quickly to this change in flow pattern, and we are hopeful that it will just be today that it may be evident of activity.

Thank you to all who have been patient as they have been directly impacted by this large scale project. Just a few more small details to clear up and clean up the work zone..
