The Wheeler Memorial Library presents a FREE screening and film discussion of the documentary Rising River's Edge with Project Directer Clara Witty on Feb 26th at 6 PM.
Rising River's Edge examines the plight of the food systems in Franklin County in the face of a changing and unpredictable climate. In the past two years, the county has experienced heavy rains, floods, late frosts, April snowfalls, and drought.
The extreme changes in weather patterns and unpredictability of forecasts wreaks havoc on our food systems and farms. This film documents 3 local farms (Clark Brothers Orchards, Red Fire Farm, and Just Roots) as they navigate difficult weather patterns in order to continue their livelihood.
Franklin County's strength comes from local farms who provide nutritional food to the public through farm stands and farmers markets. The mission of this film is to bring awareness to drastically changing weather, and that by supporting our local farms we can keep Franklin County strong, profitable, and healthy.
